Introduction

The Democratic Republic of Congo contains the most tropical rainforest in Africa, and the  second largest amount of rainforest in the world, coming in at over 100 million hectares, just behind Brazil.

It is a shame that if we humans keep going the way we are, there might not be any rainforest left. With the annual change in forest cover standing at a loss of 319, 400 hectares, there is an extreme threat to DR Congo's rainforests, and if this figure stays the same, all the rainforests will be completely gone in just over 418 years. Although this may not seem significant, once you think about the people who will be living only around 4 generations from now, it takes on a new, more important meaning.
